Exercise and Smoking

On your path to a smoke free life the challenges are harder within the first week or two. Your body goes through craving of wanting the nicotine that fills your lungs with every puff. A well rested person will be less inclined to "fall of the wagon" when quitting. Your strength to say no will be greater then someone who is tired and more likely to give in to stepping back and relighting another cigarette.

A well rested person is also more able to get an exercise in their day. Exercising is a great way to keep your mind off wanting to smoke and reminds you why you should quit. Smoking makes it harder to breathe and exercise will rebuild the muscles weakened by smoking and clear your lungs opening them up for you to breathe again.

By choosing activities you enjoy doing it doesn't even have to feel like a work out. You can pick one or two things you like to do. Walking, jogging, biking, swimming, tennis, basketball, are all things that can take your mind off smoking, and they'll keep the weight gain off that is related to quitting smoking.
